Youthphoria Coalition
The Youthphoria Coalition has been based in East San Jose centered around Andrew Hill High School and the surrounding area. The main work of the Coalition in the last three years has been to work with San Jose City Council to pass a Social Host Ordinance which will make the adults in the household responsible for the underage drinking parties in the home (check our Resources section for the Social Host Ordinance presentation). Many cities and the County of Santa Clara already have such an ordinance in place – it has helped adults and under 21 year olds start communicating about alcohol issues, and it has given law enforcement clearer guidelines for handling the issue. The Youthphoria Coalition has held and will continue to coordinate community forums to educate about what a Social Host Ordinance is and facilitate community dialogue with adults and teens about alcohol issues.
From July 2008 until June 2011, the Youthphoria Coalition received funds from the Santa Clara County Department of Alcohol and Drug Services (DADS), www.sccdads.org.
